I absolutely love the research and analytical effort put into them by two first-rate authors. I hate the fact that, with over $57 invested, I still don't get full coverage of the Classical variation(s) of the King's Indian.Together, these two books provide coverage of some of the more important and volatile lines in the King's Indian Defense, generally starting from the position after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 0-0 6.Be2. These include the Petrosian system (6...e5 7.d5), the older classical lines (7.0-0 Nbd7), and the trendy lines with 7...exd4 and 7...Nc6. You really cannot buy only one of the books because their areas of coverage overlap considerably, and this dramatically increases the investment necessary to use the book as a practical tournament player.Nunn and Burgess excel in explaining key ideas and lines and provide plenty of analytical suggestions and corrections. For a very serious player who essays the white or black sides of these lines, you probably need these two books. There is analysis here you won't find anywhere else. However, for the average tournament player, your money may be better spent elsewhere.I might reach a different conclusion if it weren't for the fact that there are some lines that can arise from this complex that aren't included in either book. For example, in the Petrosian system after 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 Bg7 4.e4 d6 5.Nf3 0-0 6.Be2 e5 7.d5 a5 8.h3 is a popular move that often arises from the Petrosian. Alas, we're told by the authors that "along with all other systems with h3, this will be covered, from Black's viewpoint, in "Beating the Anti-King's Indians" (by Joe Gallagher, to be published by Batsford in 1996)." To me, it is unacceptable that, after investing $57 I must buy yet another book to complete the coverage of this variation. Further, the missing variation will only be covered from the black side in a repertoire book -- far different from the complete coverage promised by these two volumes.In conclusion, if you're over 2200, you have to have these books, coverage warts and all. If you're not, the price to be paid may be too high.

Je suis assez d'accord avec cette critique A vrai dire,je conseille le super livre de gallagher,beating the anti king's indian,qui traite des lignes autres que la classique,le fianchetto,et la saemisch,à savoir tout le reste!Enfin presque,il n'y a pas le systeme colle... :)

les autres lignes ne m'intéressent pas vraiment car je joue classique (Cf3/Fe2) contre l'est-indienne et pas l'est-indienne avec les noirs...
